A gorgeous day in the ‘Ol Pueblo

Enough is enough !! By favoring my sore calf muscle on my 29 miler Jan 1, 2009 a muscle @ the base of my lower shin is about as sore as the calf muscle was. This is friggin ridiculous. The best way to increase blood flow to speed up the healing process is to alternate hot and cold to the area. This method is quite successful. It’s just a pain in the butt to do it. I have a hard time doing things that I really don’t want to. Sound familiar ?

Went out yesterday and got approx 1/4 mile down the trail and then today made it a whole 2 miles. Really looking forward to getting in some serious training. I come to life this time of year. The weather is exactly perfect. Oh well. What can I do but wait until tomorrow. I’ll try it again.

Trying to keep this interesting especially for those who have never been in the desert, let’s talk about a parasite called “mistletoe”. It actually came here from Europe somehow long long time ago. If not addressed it will eventually kill the host plant. It is typically spread from bird droppings. The bird eat the seeds, then poops and infects the plant. If you attempt to cut out the mistletoe your cutting utensil cannot come into contact with the parasite. If it does you must disinfect the tool with bleach. Funny story – I gave this advice to a friend of mine who thought I was nuts. He was going crazy cutting and not bleaching his saw. Lo and behold, in about a years time there was so much mistletoe you couldn’t even recognize the tree. It died. The idiot should of at least done some research.

Saying of the day – “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing” (Dale Carnegie)

Go have a blast !!! Tucson Tom
